Meet the team

Shannyn Keely - Owner
Shannyn has experienced over 15 years of dance, specialising in Jazz and Hip-Hop. In 2007 Shannyn was hired at LM as a dance teacher and worked in the reception. In 2009 Shannyn took over the business and has continued to build it into what it is today. With over 300 enrolled at LM Dance, she is incredibly proud and passionate about everything LM stands for. Based on her personal dancing experiences, she believes that the dance school can be a place for students to have fun, make new friends, and learn new skills in a warm and welcoming environment.

Outside of the dance school, Shannyn is a qualified Personal trainer and accredited fitness instructor. In 2014 Shannyn completed tertiary studies at La Trobe University completing a Bachelor of Education (Special Education). As well as running the dance school, Shannyn is a full time teacher at a local school in Bendigo.



Hayley Smits - Dance Teacher
Hayley joined the LM Dance School team in early 2009, teaching our preschool and primary school classes. Dancing since the age of six, Hayley has trained in styles including: Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Theatrical, Funk and Contemporary. She also has experience performing dance in small town musical theatre and performances in the Victorian State School Spectaculars. Hayley began dancing at Ballet schools in Melbourne before moving with her family to Swan Hill continuing her dance examinations and participating in eisteddfods, and then finally to Bendigo where she began her tertiary studies, and dancing with LM.

Hayley is a vibrant person, always excited to share her passion for dancing with the LM team. As well as spending her time dancing Hayley holds her Diploma in Children Services and in the last 10 years has worked with students in Early Childhood, Primary and High school environments.



Crystal Warne - Dance Teacher
Crystal started dancing for LM Dance School back in 2003 in our very first year. She has since had over 12 years’ experience in Jazz, Hip Hop and Contemporary styles. She joined the LM team in 2009 and has taught all ages across the dance school, currently teaching our senior Hip Hop and Jazz classes.

Before joining the LM team Crystal danced in the LM squad, performing at many events on behalf of the dance school. Crystal’s creativity and passion comes from a lve arts and performing in productions and the Australian dance Rock Eisteddfod all throughout her secondary education.

In 2014 Crystal graduated from LaTrobe University with a Bachelor of Early Childhood Education. Since then she moved to America to work for Walt Disney World in Florida, in the heart of entertainment. This experience allowed her to gain a huge amount of experience in the performing arts. Crystal is now a full time Kindergarten teacher working in Bendigo and has over 10 years’ experience working with preschool, primary and secondary aged children. Crystal’s happy, bubbly and friendly personality has reflected in all her classes over her years of teaching at LM. Her love of teaching and dance is evident in her enthusiasm to share her experience with our dancers and the LM team.



Abbey Wilson - Dance Teacher
Abbey began dancing at the age of 2, growing up Abbey was trained in the Cecchetti method of Ballet and other styles including Contemporary, Jazz, Tap and Hip-Hop. Abbey has participated in numerous ballet examinations and dance eisteddfods that she has competed at both locally and interstate. She has also been involved in school productions, rock eisteddfods and community theatre in aspects of both performing and choreographing.

Abbey began teaching at LM in 2012 and teaches a range of ages in Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz and Hip-Hop. Abbey loves to dance and enjoys sharing her passion and knowledge with her students at LM.



Leash Giles - Dance Teacher
Leash began dancing at LM in 2006 and has been with us ever since. Her speciality is hip-hop, but she also enjoys contemporary/ballet. Leash began running our birthday parties in 2011 and progressed to a teaching role in 2015, teaching preschool and junior primary school classes.

In addition to dancing, Leash has a background in drama. She undertook drama classes throughout her childhood and schooling and has since been involved helping direct and choreograph for numerous local school performances. Along with her great love of dancing, Leash has a passion for working with children. She has spent time with students in schools all around the world and in her spare time she tutors local school students. She is currently studying a Bachelor of Education to fulfill her dream of becoming a classroom teacher.
